Refuse Collection Absence Credit Form

Extended Absence Refuse-Collection Fee Credit
The City understands that some residents will experience extended periods of absence for a variety of reasons, during which refuse is not generated from their property. In response to this, a policy has been developed that would allow for a residential utility account to not be billed refuse-collection fees under these circumstances.

Fee Credit Qualification
Residential customers who are planning absences for a minimum of two months and a maximum of six months are eligible to receive a credit on their refuse-collection fees if the following criteria are met:
  • An Extended Absence Refuse Collection Fee Credit Application must be submitted and approved by the Service Department prior to the extended absence occurring.
  • There will not be any refuse or recycling generated from the residence during the absence.
  • During the period of absence, there must be zero water usage on the account. Should the water meter show usage, the customer will pay all relevant refuse-collection fees.
  • The absence must extend at least two consecutive months, and no more than a six month credit will be granted by the City each year.

Failure to meet any of the above referenced criteria will result in the refuse-collection fees being added back onto the utility account.
