2024 Fire Levy Renewal with a Reduction

Why is this on the ballot?
The City of Lebanon has placed language on the ballot that would renew the Fire Property tax Levy with the reduced millage rate.

Why is this needed?
The Fire & EMS funding restructuring is a two-step process:
  1. Increase the City Income Tax from 1% to 1.5%. All revenue generated from the 0.5% increase will be directed to Fire & EMS operations. The City of Lebanon Income Tax increase was approved by voters in November 2023.
  2. Renewal of the Fire Property Tax Levy at the reduced millage rate will support the operational needs of the Lebanon Division of Fire, including a full-time department.
The Fire Property Tax Levy Renewal is not a new tax. With the Fire Income Tax Levy in place, the City of Lebanon has initiated the hiring of additional full-time Fire & EMS personnel to serve the community, promoting the City's value of being good stewards of taxpayer dollars.
